USDA issued a Joint Letter to PACA licensees on July 18, 2018, reminding U.S. importers that produce treated with a substance prohibited by USDA organic regulations, or undergo ionizing radiation, cannot be sold, labeled or represented as organic. USDA issued a second letter to PACA licensees in July 2018, reminding them that any fumigation is prohibited for use under USDA organic regulations.
