Since joining McCarron & Diess in 2004, Kate has represented produce companies in numerous actions in federal appeals courts, federal district courts, and bankruptcy courts around the country. Her experience includes enforcing PACA trust rights against produce companies, their owners, secured lenders, and third-party recipients of PACA trust funds; handling claims related to consignment or grower agency agreements under PACA; liquidating defunct produce companies in federal courts; and representing the rights of PACA trust creditors in bankruptcy cases.
Kate graduated cum laude from American University’s Washington College of Law in 2004. She was introduced to the produce industry, and PACA in particular, while working as a law clerk at McCarron & Diess. Kate was also a student attorney in the International Human Rights Law Clinic and taught Constitutional Law at a local high school as a Marshall-Brennan Fellow.
Kate is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Walter Chandler American Inn of Court.
Kate is admitted to the bars of Maryland and Washington, D.C., and the federal bars for: the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
